False teachers taught that there was no resurrection from the dead 1 Corinthians 15:12  Now if Christ be preached that he rose from the dead, how say some among you that there is no resurrection of the dead?  The Holy Spirit guided Paul to introduce the resurrection by reminding the Corinthians (and all Christians) that there is indisputable proof of the resurrection of Jesus Christ. Hundreds of eyewitnesses saw the risen Lord and a first hand eyewitness carries the most weight in a court of law. Since Paul established factually that Christ rose from the dead, he addressed some Corinthians who denied the reality of Christ's resurrection.  They called into question the resurrection of the saints at a future date. 1 Corinthians 15:1-3  Moreover, brethren, I declare unto you the gospel which I preached unto you, which also ye have received, and wherein ye stand;  2)  By which also ye are saved, if ye keep in memory what I preached unto you, unless ye have believed in vain.  3)  For I delivered unto you first of all that which I also received, how that Christ died for our sins according to the scriptures;  Paul began this chapter by setting the foundation of Jesus Christ's vicarious suffering and death on our behalf. "Christ died for our sins." This is the same gospel that Paul preached in every city he entered during his missionary journeys. Responding by faith when the gospel is preached means receiving it as it is in truth, the Word of God to man (See 1 Thessalonians 2:13).
