The Book of Ezra Part 4 The Work To Restore Jehovah's People Begins

Image
Below is the link to the livestream of Heritage Baptist Church, where my family and I attend. This livestream focused on the steps Jehovah is taking to restore His people to Himself, after they spend 70 years captive in Babylonia.  I hope it will be a blessing to all who are able to view it. Bob

First Corinthians 2 Part 3 Glorious Truth From God Revealed By His Spirit

Image
Wonderful things prepared by the Father for His redeemed children. 1 Corinthians 2:6-9  Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:  7)  But we speak the wisdom of God in a mystery, even the hidden wisdom, which God ordained before the world unto our glory:  8)  Which none of the princes of this world knew: for had they known it, they would not have crucified the Lord of glory.  9)  But as it is written, Eye hath not seen, nor ear heard, neither have entered into the heart of man, the things which God hath prepared for them that love him.  The Spirit of God guided the apostle Paul as he addresses many issues within the church at Corinth. He contrasts the glorious hidden wisdom of God with the fleshly wisdom of the world. God's wisdom is beneficial and designed to bring redemption for mankind's sins.  The world's wisdom is man centered and pompous...

First Corinthians 2 Part 2 The Father Has Glorious Things Prepared For The Christian

Image
May we bask in the glory of God's wisdom and beauty.  1 Corinthians 2:6  Howbeit we speak wisdom among them that are perfect: yet not the wisdom of this world, nor of the princes of this world, that come to nought:  Paul speaks of Divine wisdom from God that is taught to those who are born again.  When a man or woman is regenerated by the Holy Spirit, they are placed "in Christ." We are "perfect" or complete when we are in Christ.  We have been given all spiritual blessings in Christ (See Ephesians 1:3). Our Father has given us all that we presently need and all that is required for eternal life with God in heaven.  Thus, the believer is complete or "perfect" in Christ.  Nothing but perfect truth from God as recorded in the scriptures is worthy to be called "wisdom."   Each Christian must study the Word of God to see as best we can, all of the marvelous and sublime things that God has done for those who put their faith in Christ.  As we ga...

The apostle Paul was guided by the Spirit of God to start addressing issues within the church at Corinth. He began by taking on those who were causing divisions and creating cliques in Christ's church because this is something God hates.  Our evil enemy is having his way when professing Christians follow a man rather than Christ.   Paul also began contrasting the wisdom that is from God with secular wisdom of philosophers and those who advance traditions of men over the Word of God. God chose people which are weak, base or foolish in the eyes of the world, in order to save sinners...

First Corinthians 1 Part 8 Not Many Wise Or Powerful Will Come To Faith In Christ

Image
Paul taught us about the wisdom of man in contrast to the true wisdom that comes from God.  Men will create plans and concoct various schemes to achieve their end, but it is God's wisdom that will always prevail. Not many wise or powerful people will bow the knee to Jesus Christ.  1 Corinthians 1:26  For ye see your calling, brethren, how that not many wise men after the flesh, not many mighty, not many noble, are called:  Not many people of distinguished rank and character were called to be Christians. As the apostles and teachers were poor and less valued in the sight of the world, so were many who responded to the gospel.    Few of the wise, and mighty, and noble, embraced the doctrine of the cross. The first Christians, both among Jews and Greeks, were as Paul wrote.  They were weak, foolish, and base.   Common, everyday people more readily heard the gospel, repented of sin and embraced Jesus Christ for salvation. God has chosen the fooli...

First Corinthians 1 Part 7 Pursue Holiness And Be A Faithful Witness.

Image
The power of the cross is something for believers to glory in. 1 Corinthians 1:18  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.  Preaching the gospel of Christ and the cross is the power of God for all who repent and believe on Jesus.  The culture as a whole ignores the gospel and mocks those who put their trust in Christ's saving work. Some church leaders and certain denominations dismiss gospel preaching and make fun of the theology of the cross.  The gospel is a line that separates those who are born again from those who remain in their sins. Hedonists and philosophers will mock the gospel of Christ.  Acts 17:18  Then certain philosophers of the Epicureans, and of the Stoicks, encountered him. And some said, What will this babbler say? other some, He seemeth to be a setter forth of strange gods: because he preached unto them Jesus, and the resurrection. Here is an example of those ...

First Corinthians 1 Part 6 Lift High The Cross of Christ! Preach The Word In Plain Terms.

Image
God's wisdom contrasted with human wisdom. 1 Corinthians 1:17-18  For Christ sent me not to baptize, but to preach the gospel: not with wisdom of words, lest the cross of Christ should be made of none effect.  18)  For the preaching of the cross is to them that perish foolishness; but unto us which are saved it is the power of God.  In this lesson Paul is going to teach us about wisdom by distinguishing between secular wisdom and the wisdom of God. Paul's family was wealthy and gave him a good secular education before they sent him to be a disciple of the renowned rabbi named Gamaliel. Anything less than knowing Jesus Christ is "dung." Philippians 3:7-8  But what things were gain to me, those I counted loss for Christ.  8)  Yea doubtless, and I count all things but loss for the excellency of the knowledge of Christ Jesus my Lord: for whom I have suffered the loss of all things, and do count them but dung, that I may win Christ,  When writing to th...
