The Book Of Galatians Chapter 5 Part 7 The Fruit Of The Spirit Is Joy

Image
The fruit of love is reciprocal love from God to us and from us to God . 1 John 4:10-19  Herein is love, not that we loved God, but that he loved us, and sent his Son to be the propitiation for our sins.  11)  Beloved, if God so loved us, we ought also to love one another.  12)  No man hath seen God at any time. If we love one another, God dwelleth in us, and his love is perfected in us.  13)  Hereby know we that we dwell in him, and he in us, because he hath given us of his Spirit.  14)  And we have seen and do testify that the Father sent the Son to be the Saviour of the world.  15)  Whosoever shall confess that Jesus is the Son of God, God dwelleth in him, and he in God.  16)  And we have known and believed the love that God hath to us. God is love; and he that dwelleth in love dwelleth in God, and God in him.  17)  Herein is our love made perfect, that we may have boldness in the day of judgment: because as h...

The Book Of Galatians Chapter 5 Part 6 Fruit Of The Holy Spirit Is Love

Image
We are in a spiritual war and we must learn to walk in the Spirit.  Galatians 5:16-17  This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.  17)  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.  We have timely reminders from God through His apostle about spiritual warfare. The lust of our flesh is something we inherit from Adam. Likewise, we inherit our "old man" which is mind, will and emotions that are corrupted by the fall. When we are born again, the Spirit of God gives us a new heart and spirit (See Ezekiel 11:17-20; 36:26-27; Titus 3:4-6).  He imparts spiritual life to us whereas we were previously dead in trespasses and sins (See Ephesians 2:1-10). Because of these spiritual realities, a believer in Christ experiences very real struggles.  We are often caught between our flesh which wants to sin a...

The Book Of Galatians Chapter 5 Part 5 Works Of The Flesh Described

Image
Learning to walk in the Spirit is a priority for each Christian. Galatians 5:16-18 This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfil the lust of the flesh.  17)  For the flesh lusteth against the Spirit, and the Spirit against the flesh: and these are contrary the one to the other: so that ye cannot do the things that ye would.  18)  But if ye be led of the Spirit, ye are not under the law.  Paul is showing a grave spiritual error to Galatians who had defected to Judaism. They were now under obligation to keep the whole law. They remained under condemnation because no one can perfectly keep God's law. The just shall live by faith, not by trying to keep the law. Some Galatian Christians had given up all spiritual blessings we receive in Christ, in favor of keeping the law.  Paul now addresses the works of the flesh as proof that in our flesh dwells nothing good.  Coming to grips with the realities about our sinful flesh.  Galatians 5:19...

When God Seems Silent by Pastor Alvis Part 1

Image
Good morning to all of our Readers. Our Lord continues to do amazing things by sending this simple Bible study blog around the world. He led 28 new nations to the blog last year, and 14 so far this year.  My prayer is that our wonderful God will save many people from all races, nations and status. I also pray that the Lord will strengthen those who have become weary in well doing and in need of reviving. I am posting Pastor Alvis' Sunday school lesson because it relates to our study through Nehemiah.  He gave an overview of the last book of the Old Testament, the book of Malachi. I urge all who are able to view this lesson because it addresses the 400 silent years between Malachi and the birth of Christ. Here is a note about indexes containing all Bible lessons posted on this blog since its inception in 2019.   An index for  all lessons  posted from 2019 through 2021, was published on  September 7, 2022. An index for all lessons posted in 2022, was p...

Book of Galatians Chapter 5 Part 4 Spiritual Warfare Is Real And We Must Walk In The Spirit

Image
We must learn to walk in the Spirit as we face life's struggles. Christian life is often a struggle.  A corrupt culture seeks to seduce believers into sinning.  Our "old man" or the flesh as Paul calls it, does not want to live for the glory of God.  Our flesh always runs contrary to what the Holy Spirit wants to do in our lives.  The Devil tries to cause us to plunge into sin or to become cold and calloused to the things of God. He seeks to destroy our lives and ruin our families. Thus, we have external and internal enemies surrounding us.  A non Christian does not experience this kind of struggle bec...

The Book Of Galatians Chapter 5 Part 3 Is Love For God And Others Our Highest Priority?

Image
Judaizers sought to impose law keeping on the Galatian churches and made some inroads that disrupted the churches.  Paul pronounced stern judgment upon those who tried to seduce the Galatians away from faith in Christ and the grace of God.  Paul now reminds the Galatians of his personal suffering and tribulation for the sake of the gospel of Christ. Judaizers said Paul preached circumcision yet they persecuted him. Galatians 5:11  And I, brethren, if I yet preach circumcision, why do I yet suffer persecution? then is the offence of the cross ceased.  Some of the false teachers may have heard that Paul circumcised Timothy which was done shortly before the Judaizers began attacking Paul's character (See Acts Act 16:3).  They reported Paul as being a proponent of circumcision and used Timothy's circumcision to advance their own agenda.  Paul replied that if this was true why did he suffer so much persecution from the Jews?  Everywhere Paul preached the go...
