In this Sunday School livestream, we see revival happening with the Jewish remnant who returned to Jerusalem at the decree of the Persian king Cyrus.

There is a renewed commitment to Jehovah as the light of the scriptures shaped their responses to God. 

There is a renewed commitment to pursue holiness as light from the scripture show what is clean and unclean, holy and unholy.

There is a renewed commitment to live by the Word of God as their rule of life.

There is a renewed commitment to keep the Lord's Day a holy day as He commanded, according to the scriptures. 

This involves separating the Lord's Day from the mundane and profane.

There is a renewed commitment to support the ministry of Jehovah with tithes and first fruit offerings.

The redeemed people of God must learn to look into the scriptures to:

See God as He reveals Himself to be.

To learn how to live a holy life in an unholy world.

To have our minds renewed each day by His Word.

I know that the livestream will be a blessing to those who are able to view it.

  Good afternoon.. I have a great hymn history to share with you today. One of the outstanding hymn writers was Eliza Hewitt. This hymn "Sunshine in My Soul Today" was written by Eliza after she suffered a serious injury. The lyrics and an excellent performance of the hymn are included. Elohim: the first name of God used in the Bible

I thought it might be helpful to look with you a bit regarding the very first name of God we encounter in the Bible. The Hebrew word translated "God" in Genesis 1 is "Elohim." Genesis 1:1-2 In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth. And the earth was without form, and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep. And the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. Elohim is the English spelling of a Hebrew name of God.  You might ask, “When will I know when this name Elohim appears in the Old Testament?”  Our translators translated the Hebrew name Elohim as “God” 2,606 times in the plural form and “God” 245 times from its singular form.  Elohim or God appears 31 times in the first chapter of Genesis.  Why did God give us many different names for Himself?   God is an infinite being.  God is without limits.  Since He is a limitless God, He chose various Hebrew names to reveal certain facets of Himself to m...

Genesis 5: A compressed history of the Godly line

Good evening to all of you. This post is going to take a look at the 5th chapter of Genesis. I have to warn you that it is full of genealogy (birth) and death. However, I think I can provide an overview of this chapter that can take us through the scenes. First, the end of Chapter 4 lists the families descended from Cain. You may recall that I previously mentioned that there were two lines of humanity. The wicked line were those who traced their ancestry back to Cain. The Godly line, of the line through which the promised "seed" of the woman would be born, is the line of Seth.  Genesis 5 is an accounting of the offspring sired by Seth. This paints a picture of a world filled with wheat (those who knew and obeyed God) and tares (those who did not know God and lived as rebels).  Genesis 5 begins by restating how man was created by God (Elohim) before launching into the family histories as mankind began to populate the world.
