The Book Of Galatians Chapter 5 Part 2 Living A "By Faith" Life In Christ.

The law cannot save because we still commit sins. Galatians 5:1-4  Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.  2)  Behold, I Paul say unto you, that if ye be circumcised, Christ shall profit you nothing.  3)  For I testify again to every man that is circumcised, that he is a debtor to do the whole law.  4)  Christ is become of no effect unto you, whosoever of you are justified by the law; ye are fallen from grace.  After rebuking those who departed from faith in Christ, Paul continued to make a sharp contrast between the works of the flesh and the works the of spirit. He gave us clear instruction from God on how we can live a life that honors our Lord.  He depicted in detail the vile nature of our flesh in order to lead us to Christ, to the cross and to the grace of God. The works of our flesh or old man are set in contrast to the fruit of the Spirit of God work...

The Book Of Galatians Chapter 5 Part 1 Don't Listen To Other Voices. Listen To God!

Strong censure by Paul of the Galatians deviation from gospel truth. Galatians 5:1  Stand fast therefore in the liberty wherewith Christ hath made us free, and be not entangled again with the yoke of bondage.  The Holy Spirit moved the apostle Paul to take the first half of this chapter to issue a strong warning and spiritual ultimatum to the Galatian churches. What he communicates to us is based upon what he said in the previous chapters. An imperative is a command given by God for those who profess faith in Jesus Christ.  An imperative is not optional or suggestion from God.  He expects His children to obey them, just as for proper behavior. This is the first imperative in this chapter. It tells us what to do and what we must not do. What we are told to do is to " stand fast " which means standing firm in the faith of Jesus Christ.  It means persevering when our faith is challenged by false teachers.  It means refusing to yield up what the Bible teaches u...

The Book Of Galatians Chapter 4 Part 4 An Allegory Distinguishes Between Law And Grace

The law of God cannot cleanse anyone from their sins. Hebrews 10:1-4  For the law having a shadow of good things to come, and not the very image of the things, can never with those sacrifices which they offered year by year continually make the comers thereunto perfect.  2)  For then would they not have ceased to be offered? because that the worshippers once purged should have had no more conscience of sins.  3)  But in those sacrifices there is a remembrance again made of sins every year.  4)  For it is not possible that the blood of bulls and of goats should take away sins.  Christ Jesus came to fulfill the law so that we can receive a new heart and spirit from God. Hebrews 10:7-18  Then said I, Lo, I come (in the volume of the book it is written of me,) to do thy will, O God.  8)  Above when he said, Sacrifice and offering and burnt offerings and offering for sin thou wouldest not, neither hadst pleasure therein; which are offere...

The Book Of Galatians Chapter 4 Part 3 Guard Against Spiritual Regression

Genuine concern that the Galatians were leaving Christ for the law. Galatians 4:8-11  Howbeit then, when ye knew not God, ye did service unto them which by nature are no gods.  9)  But now, after that ye have known God, or rather are known of God, how turn ye again to the weak and beggarly elements, whereunto ye desire again to be in bondage?  10)  Ye observe days, and months, and times, and years.  11)  I am afraid of you, lest I have bestowed upon you labour in vain.  The real issue with following Judaism is that the Gentiles were required to keep all the ceremonies, sacrifices and circumcision that the law demanded. Paul has stressed often that the law cannot save anyone. It cannot impute righteousness to anyone.  It can only impute condemnation because we are sinners by nature. The gospel declares that by faith in Jesus Christ, God declares a repentant sinner to be righteous and fully pardoned in His sight.  This is because Jesus is ...

An index for all lessons posted in 2022, was published  J anuary 24, 2023. An index for all lessons posted in 2023 was posted on  February 28, 2024.  The index for all lessons posted in 2024 was published on January 21,2025.  Below is the link to the YouTube channel of my church.  In Sunday school, we learned that the Jewish people experienced a revival as the scriptures were read and taught to them. Ezra and other qualified men read the scriptures to the people for many hours.  Then, other qualified men were sent out into the crowds to make sure that every single person understood what God said to them in His Word. Revival is often marked by a fervent return to the standards God originally set in place.  This happens when the peop...

The Book Of Galatians Chapter 4 Part 2

All spiritual blessings come from God when we by faith are in Christ. Galatians 4:4-7  But when the fulness of the time was come, God sent forth his Son, made of a woman, made under the law,  5)  To redeem them that were under the law, that we might receive the adoption of sons.  6)  And because ye are sons, God hath sent forth the Spirit of his Son into your hearts, crying, Abba, Father.  7)  Wherefore thou art no more a servant, but a son; and if a son, then an heir of God through Christ.  The Spirit of God used the apostle Paul to reject false teaching of Judaizers. Paul demonstrated how the promises of God were given to Abraham 400 years before God gave Israel the law. Thus, it is not possible that salvation through repentant faith in Jesus Christ comes by the law.  The law is a schoolmaster, functioning like a tutor or governor. It condemns sinners of their sins and places restrictions on them because all have sinned and fall short of Go...
