The link below will take you to the YouTube channel of the church my family attends, Heritage Baptist Church in Smithville, Ohio.

Part 6 of our lessons on Nehemiah focus upon the Sheep gate in Jerusalem.

This was also called the gate of the sinner's sacrifice because sheep for sacrifice were sold outside of the gate.

Then they were washed and led into the temple to be offered as a burnt offering for sin.

The sheep gate reminds us that a sacrifice for sin is required. All have sinned and fall short of God's glory. The soul that sins will die because the wages of sin is death.

The sheep gate reminds us that God provided a sacrifice. Genesis 22 contains a beautiful picture of God asking Abraham to sacrifice his only son Isaac.

When Abraham set his heart to obey God, the LORD intervened and provided a substitute sacrifice to take Isaac's place.

This picture points to Christ on the cross, suffering for us, bearing our sins and dying the death that rightfully belongs to us.

Jesus Christ is the Lamb of God who takes away the sins of the world. He shed His blood like a lamb led to the slaughter. He did this because of the love of God to save sinners like you and me.

I hope this livestream will be a blessing to all who are able to view it.
