Make Your New Years Resolutions Count For God's Kingdom!

The redeemed people of God should sing new songs of worship to God.

Psalm 33:1-4  Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright. 2  Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings. 3  Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise. 4  For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.

Our first New Year's resolution should be to worship God in Spirit and in truth.

We were made to worship God and we will never find satisfaction until we expend our energy worshiping Him.

Much of what is called worship today, is secular and worldly.

Godly music has words that are directly derived from the scriptures.

They are set to music that is distinctly different from worldly sounds.

Godly music feeds our soul and ministers to us in such a way that we readily give reverence and praise to the Lord God Almighty.

Jehovah gives us a new song in our heart to sing to Him at salvation.

Psalm 40:1-4  To the chief Musician, A Psalm of David. I waited patiently for the LORD; and he inclined unto me, and heard my cry. 2  He brought me up also out of an horrible pit, out of the miry clay, and set my feet upon a rock, and established my goings. 3  And he hath put a new song in my mouth, even praise unto our God: many shall see it, and fear, and shall trust in the LORD. 4  Blessed is that man that maketh the LORD his trust, and respecteth not the proud, nor such as turn aside to lies.

Let us resolve to reflect more often upon our salvation and what God saved us from.

If I were to ask each of our Readers what it is that God saved them from, everyone's testimony would be diverse and unique.

However, one common element that we share is that in each case, God picked us up out of the miry clay of sin that threatened to engulf our soul.

He lifted us up and placed on on the solid rock, Jesus Christ our Lord.

At salvation He put a new song in us that sings praise to the One, True God.

Worshiping God as a new child of God will be noticed by other people.

God orders this so that new converts to Christ testify of His grace in saving them and in turning from worldly things to worship God alone.

Singing a new song is a powerful testimony of salt and light to a lost and dying world.

Sing a new song of praise that declares the glory of God's salvation, His mighty works and His goodness to all humanity.

Psalm 96:1-5  O sing unto the LORD a new song: sing unto the LORD, all the earth. 2  Sing unto the LORD, bless his name; shew forth his salvation from day to day. 3  Declare his glory among the heathen, his wonders among all people. 4  For the LORD is great, and greatly to be praised: he is to be feared above all gods. 5  For all the gods of the nations are idols: but the LORD made the heavens.

Let us resolve to fill our hearts and minds with worship and praise, no matter how bad our circumstances may be.

One day the whole earth will be filled with worship and praise to God alone.

One day when He takes us home to heaven, we will ceaselessly praise Him.

We should sing new songs about His salvation, the cross of Christ, His shed blood that atoned for our sins.

We should sing new songs that praise God for supplying the needs of all living things and for the orderliness and laws governing creation that make our lives possible.

Sing new songs to Jehovah because He does marvelous things.

Psalm 98:1-4  A Psalm. O sing unto the LORD a new song; for he hath done marvellous things: his right hand, and his holy arm, hath gotten him the victory. 2  The LORD hath made known his salvation: his righteousness hath he openly shewed in the sight of the heathen. 3  He hath remembered his mercy and his truth toward the house of Israel: all the ends of the earth have seen the salvation of our God. 4  Make a joyful noise unto the LORD, all the earth: make a loud noise, and rejoice, and sing praise.

Let us resolve to sing new songs with fresh vitality and with the indwelling Spirit of God.

Let us ask Him to teach us what God has done for us, what He is doing for us presently and what His promises are for the future.

As we read our Bible and learn of these marvelous and wonderful things, we will be filled with praise for Jehovah and we must sing it to Him.

Sing praises to God for fresh grace and new mercies received each morning.

Lamentations 3:21-26  This I recall to my mind, therefore have I hope. 22  It is of the LORD'S mercies that we are not consumed, because his compassions fail not. 23  They are new every morning: great is thy faithfulness. 24  The LORD is my portion, saith my soul; therefore will I hope in him. 25  The LORD is good unto them that wait for him, to the soul that seeketh him. 26  It is good that a man should both hope and quietly wait for the salvation of the LORD.

Let us resolve to praise God for His boundless grace and ever flowing mercy that is renewed to us each morning.

He is loving, kind, compassionate toward each one of His children.

Let us recall these truths to our minds so that we are focused on heavenly treasures not stuck in earthly pleasure seeking.

God promises a new heart and a new spirit and a new beginning.

Ezekiel 11:19-20  And I will give them one heart, and I will put a new spirit within you; and I will take the stony heart out of their flesh, and will give them an heart of flesh: 20  That they may walk in my statutes, and keep mine ordinances, and do them: and they shall be my people, and I will be their God.

When we turn to Jesus Christ with repentant faith to save us from our sins, He regenerates us by the power of His Holy Spirit.

Let us resolve to learn more about what it means when God says He removes our stony, hard heart of rebellion and replaces it with a new heart that is sensitive to Him.

Let us resolve to learn more of the new spirit God put in us that makes us a new creation in Christ.

Let us resolve to walk in obedience to God's good commands that we might enjoy the blessed life that Psalm 1 speaks of.

Let us resolve to learn more of what it means to be a child of the living God.

A fresh start, new beginning and new life comes through obeying the gospel.

2 Corinthians 5:17  Therefore if any man be in Christ, he is a new creature: old things are passed away; behold, all things are become new.

Lest us examine ourselves to make sure that we see our old man life passing away as God makes all things new in us.

Those who profess faith in Christ but still live an unchanged life, have made a false profession of faith.

If any person is born again he or she is made a new creation in Christ and the old life will pass away.

Did you use drugs, alcohol or smoke? That will pass away when you are in Christ.

Did you curse and say vile things? That will pass away when you are in Christ.

Were you rebellious against parents or authorities? That will pass away when you are in Christ.

Let us resolve to put of the old man things and put on the new things of God.

Ephesians 4:22-24  That ye put off concerning the former conversation the old man, which is corrupt according to the deceitful lusts; 23  And be renewed in the spirit of your mind; 24  And that ye put on the new man, which after God is created in righteousness and true holiness.

The apostles spell these things out for us. They describe in detail our old man behavior is and command us to put it off.

They clearly instruct us what we must put on, which is the new things we have in Christ.

Let us resolve to go through 2025 with our eyes looking for a new heaven and new earth.

2 Peter 3:13  Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

God tells us through Peter's writing that we must occupy ourselves by looking for the promises of God to be fulfilled.

We look with anticipation for the rapture of the Church and the marriage supper of the Lamb.

We look for the resurrection of life and a joyful reunion with loved ones who died in Christ.

We look for that day when Jesus Christ rules and reigns in righteousness on earth, in a new heaven, new earth and new Jerusalem.

Revelation 21:1-5  And I saw a new heaven and a new earth: for the first heaven and the first earth were passed away; and there was no more sea. 2  And I John saw the holy city, new Jerusalem, coming down from God out of heaven, prepared as a bride adorned for her husband. 3  And I heard a great voice out of heaven saying, Behold, the tabernacle of God is with men, and he will dwell with them, and they shall be his people, and God himself shall be with them, and be their God. 4  And God shall wipe away all tears from their eyes; and there shall be no more death, neither sorrow, nor crying, neither shall there be any more pain: for the former things are passed away. 5  And he that sat upon the throne said, Behold, I make all things new. And he said unto me, Write: for these words are true and faithful.

God tells us what is going to come.

Every sinner must be told about the gospel or else they will suffer eternal condemnation in Hell.

Every believer must grasp these truths and live for the glory of God so that we may hear Jesus say to us "Well done thou good and faithful servant."
