Make Your New Years Resolutions Count For God's Kingdom!

Image
The redeemed people of God should sing new songs of worship to God. Psalm 33:1-4  Rejoice in the LORD, O ye righteous: for praise is comely for the upright.  2  Praise the LORD with harp: sing unto him with the psaltery and an instrument of ten strings.  3  Sing unto him a new song; play skilfully with a loud noise.  4  For the word of the LORD is right; and all his works are done in truth.  Our first New Year's resolution should be to worship God in Spirit and in truth.  We were made to worship God and we will never find satisfaction until we expend our energy worshiping Him.  Much of what is called worship today, is secular and worldly.  Godly music has words that are directly derived from the scriptures.  They are set to music that is distinctly different from worldly sounds. Godly music feeds our soul and ministers to us in such a way that we readily give reverence and praise to the Lord God Almighty.   Jehovah gi...

Second Corinthians 4 Part 3 Gospel Light In Jars Of Clay

Image
Gospel glory exposes false teachers and fills us with its transforming light. 2 Corinthians 4:1-6  Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;  2)  But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.  3)  But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:  4)  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.  5)  For we preach not ourselves, but Christ Jesus the Lord; and ourselves your servants for Jesus' sake.  6 ) For God, who commanded the light to shine out of darkness, hath shined in our hearts, to give the light of the knowledge of the glory of God in the face of Jesus Christ. The Holy Spirit...

Second Corinthians 4 Part 2 Preaching The Gospel Must Be Central In Each Church

Image
Preach the gospel because it glorifies Jesus Christ, the Son of God. 2 Corinthians 4:1-4  Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;  2)  But have renounced the hidden things of dishonesty, not walking in craftiness, nor handling the word of God deceitfully; but by manifestation of the truth commending ourselves to every man's conscience in the sight of God.  3)  But if our gospel be hid, it is hid to them that are lost:  4)  In whom the god of this world hath blinded the minds of them which believe not, lest the light of the glorious gospel of Christ, who is the image of God, should shine unto them.  So far in chapter four, Paul reminds us that preaching the gospel is his great blessing and privilege.  He has shined the light of God's truth upon the devious teaching and slanderous ways of false teachers. He warns us that the Devil exerts himself to blind the minds of anyone who hears the gospel of Christ...

Second Corinthians 4 Part 1 Gospel Light Penetrates Blinded Minds

Image
God's mercy is always sufficient for our needs when we suffer for our Lord.  2 Corinthians 4:1  Therefore seeing we have this ministry, as we have received mercy, we faint not;    Paul reaches back to chapter three and the glorious ministry of the gospel of Christ and the grace of God that was entrusted to him as an apostle. In the previous chapter Paul  magnified his office after expounding the excellency and glory of the gospel of Christ.   In this chapter Paul was guided by God's Spirit to vindicate the apostolic ministry from defamatory statements made by false teachers. Not only did false teachers cause discord and foster disunity in the church, they said the apostles were deceitful workers.  They attempted to turn the minds of the people against Paul and other apostles because of their sufferings for the sake of the gospel.  Each apostle suffered in many ways for preaching the gospel of Christ. All apostles except John were martyred. Fa...

A Christmas Letter To Our Readers

Image
Good morning to all of our Readers on this Christmas Eve day. It is very humbling to think about what God has done and is doing through this simple Bible study blog. In 2024, God brought 24 new nations to view it this year and more than 170 nations total. This is all of God. In five years of Bible study blog ministry, the Lord has grown it from a slow start in 2019, to more than 241,000 total views. This is all of God. I do not publish which nations view the blog because in many cases, people are risking their lives to read it. I want to say how thankful I am to our Father in heaven for orchestrating where the blog goes out into the world and for all the people whom He has led to view it.  Of course, this blog would be nothing if it was just a man's idle speculation.  This is why I include the scriptures and Bible references, so that each of you can read God's Word or look it up on your devices.  I seek to do as Paul does, to use plain words that everyone can grasp, so th...

The link below will take you to the YouTube channel of the church my family attends, Heritage Baptist Church in Smithville, Ohio. This lesson focused upon the outrage and hatred spewing from Sanballat and Tobias and the Samaritan army. We looked at some reasons why the Jews and Jerusalem are the object of scorn, ridicule and hatred. We looked at Nehemiah's prayer as he cast his concern about the enemies upon the LORD.  Nehemiah did not respond in kind to those whose speech was ...

Second Corinthians 3 Part 6 The Glorious Standing We Have In Christ

Image
Moses wore a veil pictured people who don't hear the gospel or see Jesus Christ. 2 Corinthians 3:12-15 Seeing then that we have such hope, we use great plainness of speech:  13  And not as Moses, which put a vail over his face, that the children of Israel could not stedfastly look to the end of that which is abolished:  14  But their minds were blinded: for until this day remaineth the same vail untaken away in the reading of the old testament; which vail is done away in Christ.  15  But even unto this day, when Moses is read, the vail is upon their heart.  Paul turned to the Old Testament to illustrate the truth of his message to the Corinthians and to all churches. He used simple, clear and understandable words as opposed to the eloquent, sophisticated speeches of false teachers.  This reminds us to be clear and concise when we share the gospel of Christ with people who do not know Him.  Paul trusted God's Word and the ministry of the Spiri...
