This is part 2 of our study through the book of Nehemiah.

Earnest prayer prepared Nehemiah’s heart to meet the king.

Nehemiah prayed that Jehovah would turn the king's heart favorably toward his request.

Nehemiah's diligent work as cupbearer for King Artaxerxes earned the respect and trust of the king.

God answered Nehemiah's prayer and turned the king's heart. Nehemiah wept for those in Jerusalem who endured such hardship.

When he prayed, Nehemiah sought God first, before making any requests. He prayed a "LORD send me prayer" instead of a "LORD send someone else" prayer.

We saw that Nehemiah's prayer was practical in that he would need building materials procured for rebuilding the walls and gates of Jerusalem.

Nehemiah's prayer was passionate in that he was concerned for God's glory to be on display.

Nehemiah's prayer was purposeful in that he did not pray using repetitious words or phrases.

He did not pray while his mind was not on the God to whom he prayed. He had a prayer specifying his needs and especially the needs of the Jewish remnant in Jerusalem.

I hope that this livestream lesson will be a great blessing to each of you who are able to view it.

Bob
