The gift of words of wisdom and the indicatives of God. 1 Corinthians 12:7-8  But the manifestation of the Spirit is given to every man to profit withal.  8)  For to one is given by the Spirit the word of wisdom; to another the word of knowledge by the same Spirit;  Paul reminds us before listing the gifts of the Spirit that each gift is to be used for the glory of God.  Each gift is given to build up Christians faith, to evangelize the world and to facilitate ministry within the local church. The gift of wisdom as new revelation from God stopped when the canon of the New Testament scriptures were completed. However, wisdom as a practical application of God's Word in our lives is something we must always pursue.  We must first learn God's Word and build a solid foundation of Bible truth in our heart.  When we use that knowledge to make decisions which conform with scripture, then we have practically demonstrated wisdom in our lives.  Wisdom received by the apostles directly fro

God determines the scope and purpose of spiritual gifts.  1 Corinthians 12:4-6  Now there are diversities of gifts, but the same Spirit.  5)  And there are differences of administrations, but the same Lord.  6)  And there are diversities of operations, but it is the same God which worketh all in all.  In our last post we saw that the Spirit of God gives a wide variety of spiritual gifts to be used in the local church.  He administers these things according to His will as He deems best in meeting the needs of each local church. We also learned that the Lord Jesus Christ calls men into gospel ministry as Pastors, Evangelists, Teachers and church leaders. We saw how Christ called His disciples and how they gave up their old life in order to follow Jesus.
