The link below will take you to the livestream of Sunday school and a lesson on the Book of Ezra.

I want to clarify some in the livestream regarding the names of the men who were chosen to follow Ezra.

Hebrew names often communicate truth about God or what He is doing.

I tried to put myself in the same setting as the men Ezra was preparing to lead to Jerusalem to restore right worship of Jehovah.

This is why I gave the meanings of the names.

For example, it I were sitting next to a man names Shechaniah, I would know that his name means "Dweller with Jehovah" and I would be encouraged.

I would want to be like David and say my highest goal is to dwell in the house of Jehovah forever.

It is easy to get bogged down in genealogy and not see the beautiful things God has for us.

I failed to emphasize that a good name is better than great riches is connected with God shaping our character so that we are upright men and women who serve Him.

I trust that the humble example of fasting and prayer set forth by Ezra will be an example for us to seek our Lord each day and to live a simple life of contentment.

Bob
