We now come to the prayer of Ezra as he learned of the sin of the Jews. He was heartbroken because this sin is one reason why they were sent into exile for seventy years.

He was heartbroken because God had given them grace and allowed a remnant to return to Jerusalem, to rebuild the altar and the temple.

The timing of his prayer coincided with the evening sacrifice.
We learned that the morning and evening sacrifice were times of confession, repentance and cleansing.

It was a time when sacrifice for sin was made so that they could be restored in their relationship with God.

The content of Ezra's prayer focused upon the honor of God and how the people had dishonored Him.

Ezra did not commit the sin of intermarrying with pagans, but he was a priest and confessed the sin as if he had done it.

He knew that God would be right to judge His people. He could only sit and plead for the mercies of God.

The link below will take you to the livestream of this Sunday school lesson. I hope it is a blessing to all who can view it.
