Second Thessalonians 2 Part 3 Day Of The Lord Judgment Followed By New Heaven And Earth

Remember the return of Christ has two distinct parts.

2 Thessalonians 2:1-4  Now we beseech you, brethren, by the coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, and by our gathering together unto him, 2)  That ye be not soon shaken in mind, or be troubled, neither by spirit, nor by word, nor by letter as from us, as that the day of Christ is at hand. 3)  Let no man deceive you by any means: for that day shall not come, except there come a falling away first, and that man of sin be revealed, the son of perdition; 4)  Who opposeth and exalteth himself above all that is called God, or that is worshipped; so that he as God sitteth in the temple of God, shewing himself that he is God.

The Spirit of God guided the apostle Paul to provide more clarity for the coming of Jesus Christ.

He is making clear that Christians understand the rapture of the church and the resurrection of life will take place first.

Then, a seven year tribulation period will break out on earth while in heaven, Jesus Christ receives His bride, the church.

After this, Christ will return and His foot will touch the Mount of Olives which will cause a great earthquake to announce that the King of all kings has returned to earth to judge and purge out all wickedness.

The Day of the LORD's final, swift judgment is coming!

Zechariah 14:1-5  Behold, the day of the LORD cometh, and thy spoil shall be divided in the midst of thee. 2)  For I will gather all nations against Jerusalem to battle; and the city shall be taken, and the houses rifled, and the women ravished; and half of the city shall go forth into captivity, and the residue of the people shall not be cut off from the city. 3)  Then shall the LORD go forth, and fight against those nations, as when he fought in the day of battle. 4)  And his feet shall stand in that day upon the mount of Olives, which is before Jerusalem on the east, and the mount of Olives shall cleave in the midst thereof toward the east and toward the west, and there shall be a very great valley; and half of the mountain shall remove toward the north, and half of it toward the south. 5)  And ye shall flee to the valley of the mountains; for the valley of the mountains shall reach unto Azal: yea, ye shall flee, like as ye fled from before the earthquake in the days of Uzziah king of Judah: and the LORD my God shall come, and all the saints with thee.

Jesus will return because He is going to cause all the nations of the antichrist to rise up and go to Jerusalem to destroy the Holy City and the Jewish people.

The aggressors will initially be successful but then Christ returns. His foot will make the Mount of Olives split into the four points of the compass.

The Jewish remnant and any Gentiles who heard the gospel and believed it during the tribulation period, will escape to safety.

Jehovah's fiery judgment will instantly annihilate all unrighteous people.

Zechariah 14:12-15  And this shall be the plague wherewith the LORD will smite all the people that have fought against Jerusalem; Their flesh shall consume away while they stand upon their feet, and their eyes shall consume away in their holes, and their tongue shall consume away in their mouth. 13)  And it shall come to pass in that day, that a great tumult from the LORD shall be among them; and they shall lay hold everyone on the hand of his neighbour, and his hand shall rise up against the hand of his neighbour. 14)  And Judah also shall fight at Jerusalem; and the wealth of all the heathen round about shall be gathered together, gold, and silver, and apparel, in great abundance. 15)  And so shall be the plague of the horse, of the mule, of the camel, and of the ass, and of all the beasts that shall be in these tents, as this plague.

The battle is over in a moment because none can stand in the face of Jesus Christ.

Jehovah will smite His enemies. Their flesh, eyes and tongues will melt away in the flaming judgment fires Christ will unleash.

There is no resisting the omnipotent power of final judgment.

Israel will then take spoils of the nations.

Jesus Christ will be the victorious King and Lord of all Creation!

Revelation 19:11-21  And I saw heaven opened, and behold a white horse; and he that sat upon him was called Faithful and True, and in righteousness he doth judge and make war. 12)  His eyes were as a flame of fire, and on his head were many crowns; and he had a name written, that no man knew, but he himself. 13)  And he was clothed with a vesture dipped in blood: and his name is called The Word of God. 14)  And the armies which were in heaven followed him upon white horses, clothed in fine linen, white and clean. 15)  And out of his mouth goeth a sharp sword, that with it he should smite the nations: and he shall rule them with a rod of iron: and he treadeth the winepress of the fierceness and wrath of Almighty God. 16)  And he hath on his vesture and on his thigh a name written, KING OF KINGS, AND LORD OF LORDS. 17)  And I saw an angel standing in the sun; and he cried with a loud voice, saying to all the fowls that fly in the midst of heaven, Come and gather yourselves together unto the supper of the great God; 18)  That ye may eat the flesh of kings, and the flesh of captains, and the flesh of mighty men, and the flesh of horses, and of them that sit on them, and the flesh of all men, both free and bond, both small and great. 19)  And I saw the beast, and the kings of the earth, and their armies, gathered together to make war against him that sat on the horse, and against his army. 20)  And the beast was taken, and with him the false prophet that wrought miracles before him, with which he deceived them that had received the mark of the beast, and them that worshipped his image. These both were cast alive into a lake of fire burning with brimstone. 21)  And the remnant were slain with the sword of him that sat upon the horse, which sword proceeded out of his mouth: and all the fowls were filled with their flesh.

Paul told the Thessalonians that Jesus is coming with flaming fire to take vengeance upon all who reject the gospel.

John tells us that Jesus will be mounted on a white horse, a heavenly stallion and He is coming to make war against the Devil, the antichrist, the beast and the false prophet.

Christ's eyes are a flaming fire and His precious blood appears on His garment, to remind all the Christ rejectors that they are guilty of His suffering and death.

Thus, He is righteous to judge and condemn them to eternal punishment.

All the wicked will be instantly destroyed and the fowls of the air will be called to eat the dead carcasses.

The beast, antichrist and false prophet are swiftly cast into the eternal lake of fire.

God wants to save you but you must repent and turn to Christ.

2 Peter 3:7-13  But the heavens and the earth, which are now, by the same word are kept in store, reserved unto fire against the day of judgment and perdition of ungodly men. 8)  But, beloved, be not ignorant of this one thing, that one day is with the Lord as a thousand years, and a thousand years as one day. 9)  The Lord is not slack concerning his promise, as some men count slackness; but is longsuffering to us-ward, not willing that any should perish, but that all should come to repentance. 10)  But the day of the Lord will come as a thief in the night; in the which the heavens shall pass away with a great noise, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat, the earth also and the works that are therein shall be burned up. 11)  Seeing then that all these things shall be dissolved, what manner of persons ought ye to be in all holy conversation and godliness, 12)  Looking for and hasting unto the coming of the day of God, wherein the heavens being on fire shall be dissolved, and the elements shall melt with fervent heat? 13)  Nevertheless we, according to his promise, look for new heavens and a new earth, wherein dwelleth righteousness.

The current heaven and earth are reserved for a fiery judgment by God. There is only one reason why it has not happened yet.

God the Father still wants to save souls from eternal condemnation. He is still patiently allowing the gospel of Christ to be preached so that people can repent and turn to Jesus for salvation.

He wants all people to come to repentant faith. If you are not yet born again, please understand that you will face this fiery judgment unless you repent and call upon Jesus to save you.

Peter tells us that the heaven and the earth will undergo a fiery judgment such that the elements will melt from intense heat and the heavens will be on fire and dissolve.

All Israel's enemies will cry out for the mountains to fall on them, burying them so that they do not have to see the face of the Judge, the Lord of Glory.

When the final judgment day of the LORD is over, God will create a new heaven and a new earth where there will be no sin, no wickedness, no depravity.

God will return things to the state of paradise in the garden of Eden.

Major transformation of the world after judgment day.

Zechariah 14:6-11  And it shall come to pass in that day, that the light shall not be clear, nor dark: 7)  But it shall be one day which shall be known to the LORD, not day, nor night: but it shall come to pass, that at evening time it shall be light. 8)  And it shall be in that day, that living waters shall go out from Jerusalem; half of them toward the former sea, and half of them toward the hinder sea: in summer and in winter shall it be. 9)  And the LORD shall be king over all the earth: in that day shall there be one LORD, and his name one. 10)  All the land shall be turned as a plain from Geba to Rimmon south of Jerusalem: and it shall be lifted up, and inhabited in her place, from Benjamin's gate unto the place of the first gate, unto the corner gate, and from the tower of Hananeel unto the king's winepresses. 11)  And men shall dwell in it, and there shall be no more utter destruction; but Jerusalem shall be safely inhabited.

Living waters will flow out of Jerusalem (See Revelation 22:1-5). Jesus Christ shall rule all nations and none shall resist His government.

The earth will be transformed and repopulated. There will be abundant harvests and abundant fresh water supplies.

Peace and safety will be the characteristic of Christ's kingdom. His rule and law is given in Matthew 5-7.

The All Glorious God will rule righteously and provide all our needs.

Zechariah 14:16-21  And it shall come to pass, that every one that is left of all the nations which came against Jerusalem shall even go up from year to year to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, and to keep the feast of tabernacles. 17)  And it shall be, that whoso will not come up of all the families of the earth unto Jerusalem to worship the King, the LORD of hosts, even upon them shall be no rain. 18) And if the family of Egypt go not up, and come not, that have no rain; there shall be the plague, wherewith the LORD will smite the heathen that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. 19)  This shall be the punishment of Egypt, and the punishment of all nations that come not up to keep the feast of tabernacles. 20)  In that day shall there be upon the bells of the horses, HOLINESS UNTO THE LORD; and the pots in the LORD'S house shall be like the bowls before the altar. 21)  Yea, every pot in Jerusalem and in Judah shall be holiness unto the LORD of hosts: and all they that sacrifice shall come and take of them, and seethe therein: and in that day there shall be no more the Canaanite in the house of the LORD of hosts.

When Jesus Christ sets up His kingdom on earth, all people will go up to Jerusalem to keep the feasts commanded in the law of Moses.

Jesus will supply for all humanities physical needs and spiritual needs. Holiness and righteousness will fill the earth.

Isaiah describes it as a time when the lamb and lion will lie down together in peace. When the serpents and spiders will not bite or harm a child (See Isaiah 11).

The very next prophetic event to be completed is the rapture of the church.

The world will experience the tribulation period while the church is married to Christ in heaven.

Then, Jesus will return to earth with His saints to judge all nations and wicked people.

Are you ready to face the Lord Jesus Christ?

Have you repented of your sins and called upon Jesus to save you?

Remember, we only have this day, this moment in time. No one is guaranteed tomorrow.

The time to be born again is now.

If you die in your sins then there is certain judgment and eternal condemnation.

If you call upon Christ, He will save you. I know, for He saved me more than 40 years ago!

You can enjoy walking in newness of life, having your old sinful patterns pass away and being made a new creation in Christ, like Jesus did for me!

2 Corinthians 6:1-2  We then, as workers together with him, beseech you also that ye receive not the grace of God in vain. 2)  (For he saith, I have heard thee in a time accepted, and in the day of salvation have I succoured thee: behold, now is the accepted time; behold, now is the day of salvation.)
