We are starting a new series in adult Sunday School at our church. It is titled "The Good and Perfect Gift of God's Word."  The link below will take you to our church YouTube channel, so that you can view the lesson. This series of lessons will focus upon the how good God is to give us His Word. We examined the power of His Word and the eternality of His Word. There is much application for our own lives that we must think about. I hope this will be a blessing to all who are able to view it. Bob

Good morning to all of our Readers. I completed the index to all posts from the year 2023. I hope this is a good resource for you, to find topics that we have covered. When teaching through a book like the Gospel of John, the title John 14 refers to our study of that chapter and there are usually several parts to each chapter.  May God be pleased with our response to His Word. Pursue godliness and avoid that which does not edify the soul. 1 Timothy 4:6-7  If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.  7)  But refuse profane and old wives' fables, and exercise thyself rather unto godliness.  Paul has been speaking to young pastor Timothy about his spiritual duties....

1 Timothy 4 Pt. 3 Have Godly Priorities, Passions and Practices

Paul is writing a "Pastoral" letter to a young pastor named Timothy. This young pastor was greatly loved by Paul and the apostle worked diligently to prepare Timothy for gospel ministry.  Timothy needed to be ready to assume greater responsibilities over the churches. Why? Because Paul was going to be martyred, along with all the other apostles, except John, who died in exile at Patmos. Thus, Paul began the 4th chapter of First Timothy with strong warnings about guarding against seducing spirits, false teachers and doctrines of devils.  1 Timothy 4:6  If thou put the brethren in remembrance of these things, thou shalt be a good minister of Jesus Christ, nourished up in the words of faith and of good doctrine, whereunto thou hast attained.  Paul teaches Timothy that a good minister of the gospel of Jesus Christ, will indeed, lead by setting a good example, and by passing on the apostolic doctrines. The phrase " put the brethren in remembrance of" is from a Greek wo...

1 Timothy 4 Pt. 2 We Must Know The Scriptures To Fend Off False Teachers

Seducing spirits lead people away from living for God's glory. 1 Timothy 4:1  Now the Spirit speaketh expressly, that in the latter times some shall depart from the faith, giving heed to seducing spirits, and doctrines of devils;  Paul begins chapter four with warnings about doctrines of devils and seducing spirits. One example of devilish doctrines is the health, wealth and happiness gospel promoted by various mega churches in America. The chaotic charismatic movement or snake handling are other examples of seducing spirits. What they share in common is that they do not conform to the imperatives God has given to all Christians.  We are called to take up our cross daily and follow Jesus (Matthew 16:24).  We are called to be holy because God is holy (1 Peter 1:15-16).  We are called to have our minds renewed, by putting off the old man things and putting on our new man in Christ (Romans 12:1-2; Colossians 3:5-17).  We are called to put on the whole armor of...
