The apostle Peter, guided by the Holy Spirit, has had very strong words to say about false teachers and those who profess faith in Christ, but live for self.

He also speaks about looming judgment from God upon unruly, ungovernable sinners who pose a threat to family and society.

These sinners walk after the flesh and follow the corrupt desires of their own hearts.

They give themselves wholly to the fleshly lust in their minds. They refuse to submit to God's authority, and will never bring every thought to the obedience of Christ.

Unruly sinners act contrary to God's righteous laws, and comply with the demands of their corrupt nature.

Evil thoughts lead to evil practices, and those who propagate error, seek to spread wickedness.

Wicked sinners are like natural brute animals consumed with lusts.

2 Peter 2:12  But these, as natural brute beasts, made to be taken and destroyed, speak evil of the things that they understand not; and shall utterly perish in their own corruption;

They follow the lusts of their flesh like natural animals, void of reason, obeying only the gross instincts of nature. Unruly sinners are not governed by reason nor religion.

This is a real representation of our culture, where unity and love of God and nation is replaced with tribalism and getting all you can get, whether legally or illegally.

Unruly sinners walk by sight, and not by faith, judging of things according to their sensual, beast like nature.

To be called a natural brute beast is a severe characterization, that tells us how morally bankrupt sinners are, apart from the power of the gospel of Christ.

Before God changed us through the new birth, we all followed base, sensual, carnal appetites.

Such that, we exclusively pursued the inclination of our beast like instincts. We refused to employ the understanding and reason God had given to us.

Final judgment and eternal damnation is part of the gospel message. God has been reconciled to sinful man through the perfect atoning sacrifice of His Son, Jesus Christ.

Sinners are carnally minded and seek to fulfill their lusts.

Romans 8:6-8  For to be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace. 7)  Because the carnal mind is enmity against God: for it is not subject to the law of God, neither indeed can be. 8)  So then they that are in the flesh cannot please God.

However, God will hold all nations and people accountable for refusing to hear and heed the gospel message. Christ will triumph over all carnality. Faith will be victorious over false teaching.

Those who walk after the flesh are carnally minded sinners. Their path leads to death and eternal condemnation.

A carnal minded sinner never obeys God's holy standards, and cannot submit to any other authority except the lust of the flesh. This is why those who are in the flesh cannot please God.

Salvation cannot be earned by doing good works nor can it be bought with riches.

Salvation is a gift from God of the greatest grace, and can only be received through gospel preaching (faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God).

Though sin and Satan seem to triumph right now, all sinners, the Devil and all fallen angels, have an appointed end. God will utterly destroy them for their own sin, rebellion and corruption.

Ignorance is the cause of evil-speaking and destruction will be the effect of it. These persons shall be utterly destroyed in their own corruption.

The life of a sinner is a hard life that leads to destruction and damnation.

Proverbs 13:15  Good understanding giveth favour: but the way of transgressors is hard.

Their fleshly vices not only expose them to the wrath of God when judgment day arrives, but often brings them to great misery and ruin in this life.

This is why Solomon said the life of transgressors is very hard. Sinners ruin their own lives physically and spiritually.

Sinners ruin the lives of their own families and friends. Their wicked ways spawn many negative repercussions in any society.

Sinners will beg for rocks and mountains to cover them up.

Revelation 6:15-17  And the kings of the earth, and the great men, and the rich men, and the chief captains, and the mighty men, and every bondman, and every free man, hid themselves in the dens and in the rocks of the mountains; 16)  And said to the mountains and rocks, Fall on us, and hide us from the face of him that sitteth on the throne, and from the wrath of the Lamb: 17)  For the great day of his wrath is come; and who shall be able to stand?

All sinners will receive the wages of sin which is just. All sinners will see the Lord Jesus Christ returning in great power and glory and be overwhelmed with fear and dread.

They will beg the rocks and hills to fall on them so that they do not have to see the wrath of God coming to punish their wickedness.

Jesus Christ will return in flaming fire to destroy sinners.

2 Thessalonians 1:6-10  Seeing it is a righteous thing with God to recompense tribulation to them that trouble you; 7)  And to you who are troubled rest with us, when the Lord Jesus shall be revealed from heaven with his mighty angels, 8)  In flaming fire taking vengeance on them that know not God, and that obey not the gospel of our Lord Jesus Christ: 9)  Who shall be punished with everlasting destruction from the presence of the Lord, and from the glory of his power; 10)  When he shall come to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired in all them that believe (because our testimony among you was believed) in that day.

Many people do not like to speak of the day of final judgment, but it is a spiritual reality communicated by law, the prophets and the apostles.

When Jesus comes in flaming fire, He is coming as the King of kings and the Righteous Judge, who will sentence every sinner according to their wicked works.

He will come with His mighty angels, who will separate the good wheat (Christians) from the bad tares (Sinners). They will throw out the bad fish and keep the good ones (See Matthew 13:24-43; 47-50).

Wicked sinners will receive fiery judgment from God.

2 Peter 2:13  And shall receive the reward of unrighteousness, as they that count it pleasure to riot in the day time. Spots they are and blemishes, sporting themselves with their own deceivings while they feast with you;

Most sinners, when committing their abominable pursuit of natural brute beast lusts, seek the secrecy of the night.

But, in the last days, these sinners will be openly defiant against God's holy standard, flaunting their depravity during the daytime, in a conspicuous display of gross impurity.

Wicked sinners never stop sinning and actively pursue their lusts.

2 Peter 2:14  Having eyes full of adultery, and that cannot cease from sin; beguiling unstable souls: an heart they have exercised with covetous practices; cursed children:

The idea here is that sinners constantly think about and pursue fleshly lusts. Whatever God has commanded mankind not to do, is the lust that they seek to satisfy.

This is why people explode with hatred and say vile things, commit murders, robberies and assault other people. This is why people who are under oath, lie. This is why we see ethnic purging, senseless wars and wanton destruction of lives and property.

Sinners like the ones Peter writes of, cannot stop sinning. Indeed, they run toward it as if they cannot be overly satiated with sensual debauchery and depravity.

This generation of sinners, who shake their fists in violent rebellion against God, are  cursed children.

Make no mistake about this truth. God will judge all unrepentant sinners for their sins.

Those who openly flaunt their murderous ideology and sexual perversion, shall one day cry out in fear when Jesus returns in flaming fire, ready to cast them into Hell.

God has left His church intact and each Christian has a duty to the Father, to tell lost sinners about the gospel of Christ.

God uses the foolishness of preaching to save them that believe.

It is the omnipotent power of the gospel of Christ that can convert sinners, and bring them to God through faith in Christ.

May the words of the Psalmist encourage us to be active in Great Commission work for our Lord, until He calls us home.

Bob

Psalm 19:7-9  The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul: the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple. 8)  The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart: the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes. 9)  The fear of the LORD is clean, enduring for ever: the judgments of the LORD are true and righteous altogether.
