Psalm 119: Focus On God's Word Pt. 15 A Transformed Heart Actively Praises God

Psalm 119:1-6  ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.  2)  Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.  3)  They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.  :4)  Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.   5) O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!  6)  Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.  This wonderful Psalm is showing us the heart of God toward mankind. He shows us how to make right choices so that we may live this life with true, lasting happiness as the Father blesses His obedient children.  We learned that we must take God at His Word. If He gave us some imperatives to implement, then obeying them is the path to blessing.  God makes His will very clear regarding how He communicates to us through  His Word and governs us with it.  He is our Creator and the Sust...

Pastor Alvis Sunday School sermon January 30, 2022

Here is the YouTube link to Pastor Alvis' Sunday school lesson titled "The Word On Trial?" This is a must watch lesson as Pastor demonstrates the damage done by the field of "higher criticism" where scholars sit in judgment over the scriptures.  They force the Word of God through the grid of their erroneous theories and effectively take the Bible out of the hands of common Christians.  This is part of a series of sermons focusing upon the authority and sufficiency of scripture. I trust it will be a blessing to you. Bob

Here is the link to Pastor Alvis' midweek service January 26, 2022. This sermon continues a series of teaching about our great enemy, Satan. Pastor preached on the necessity of each believer daily donning the armor of God and spending time in prayer. This sermon is a must watch for all who desire to be protected in the spiritual warfare raging around us.  Bob

The Book of Acts: Discipleship In Action Pt. 67 Obedience, Faithfulness and the First European Convert!

Obeying God's call to share the gospel. Acts 16:11-12  Therefore leaving from Troas, we came with a straight course to Samothracia, and the next day to Neapolis;  12)  And from thence to Philippi, which is the chief city of that part of Macedonia, and a colony: and we were in that city abiding certain days.  Paul, Silas and Timothy swiftly complied with the Macedonian vision God gave to Paul. They boarded a ship and set sail for Macedonia.  The words "came with a straight course" mean to run with the wind. Their ship sailed with favorable winds making the voyage faster. It is as if God blessed their obedience with swift and safe sailing.  Paul obeyed the vision. If the Macedonians needed help, then they would go to Macedonia which is the northern and central parts of modern-day Greece.  They sailed from Troas to Neapolis, stopping for the night on the island of Samothrace. From Neapolis, they continued on to the Roman colony of Philippi, the leading c...

Psalm 119: Focus On God's Word Pt. 14 A Doer of the Word Obeys From the Heart!

Psalm 119:1-6  ALEPH. Blessed are the undefiled in the way, who walk in the law of the LORD.  2)  Blessed are they that keep his testimonies, and that seek him with the whole heart.  3)  They also do no iniquity: they walk in his ways.  4)  Thou hast commanded us to keep thy precepts diligently.  5)  O that my ways were directed to keep thy statutes!  6)  Then shall I not be ashamed, when I have respect unto all thy commandments.   We are studying Psalm 119, which is the longest chapter in the Bible. This chapter is singularly unique in that it is devoted to teaching us about God, His Word and the impact of His Word in our hearts and souls.  The lessons we learn are simple, understandable and can be distilled to a few actions on our part: take God at His Word, trust and obey what He says. This is the path to finding lasting happiness, having a joyful heart and receiving the blessing of God. Learning His righteous judg...

The Book of Acts: Discipleship In Action Pt. 66 Faithfulness, Patience and Serving God

We now move into Acts sixteen. Luke tells us nothing else about Barnabas and John Mark's journey. This is because he concentrated on the events that happened with Paul and Silas.  This chapter also marks another milestone, because the gospel is going to go to Europe for the first time, when they arrive at Philippi.  Map of Paul's Second Missionary Journey A new journey begins Acts 16:1,2  Then came he to Derbe and Lystra: and, behold, a certain disciple was there, named Timotheus, the son of a certain woman, which was a Jewess, and believed; but his father was a Greek:  2)  Which was well reported of by the brethren that were at Lystra and Iconium.  You may recall that Lystra was where Paul was stoned and left for dead. Yet, the apostle boldly returned to the city, trusting that Jesus would sustain and protect him.  Luke introduced us to a young disciple named Timothy by using the words "a certain disciple." Throughout the book of Acts, Luke...

Psalm 119: Focus On God's Word Pt. 13 Righteous Judgments & Simple Obedience

Psalm 119:1  ALEPH. Our duty as Christians is very clear in Psalm119. In the verse we have studied we can easily discern the action words calling for us to do certain things, in order to find happiness and blessing from God. We are to "walk" in the law of God. We are to "keep" His testimonies. We are to "seek" God with all of our being. We are to "walk" in His ways. We are to "keep" His precepts. We are to go to the Lord in prayer asking for His strength to "keep" His statutes. We are to "respect" God...
