Missionary Update from S Africa
Good afternoon to all of our Readers.
Below is an update from a missionary family supported by our church to South Africa. You can see the hardships they face and the daily sacrifices made to get the gospel to lost people in that regions of the world. Personally identifying information is redacted to protect these dear laborers in Gospel ministry. PLeas pray for their needs.

South Africa’s second surge of Covid-19 infections has been
exponential and highly infective due to our own variant (501Y.V2). Our president, Cyril Ramaphosa, put the
country under lockdown level three on 28 December 2020 due to the year-end
summer holiday and beach mode. On 1 February, the lockdown was eased and
churches have able to begin to meet again. However, Eindhoven Baptiste Kerk is
still without a venue to meet since the government school where we have held
services since 2010 will not be allowing churches to use their facilities as
long at the pandemic requires extra caution.
Will
you please pray for the Lord to move on the principal of a small
preschool, to grant us permission to meet at their
facility? It is in an excellent location
and it is central to our people in Eindhoven.
While we wait on LP we are holding services outside at our
home. It is a joy to meet again in
person even with social distancing and mask. (Mask are mandatory everywhere
outside your home throughout the whole of South Africa)
Yesterday
was the 5th time we have been able to meet at our home. We are thankful
that our neighbours, B and N visited our services again. They know
that they are lost and they are concerned about their souls, especially since
their friend and house mate, B , died suddenly in September. I had witnessed to
him at his home and in our home just before the Covid lockdown first began in
March 2020. B and N also heard the gospel along with B last year. B and N attended one service last year and B had asked for a home service just before Lockdown. N came
to visit C last Wednesday and C was able to share from my message from
Galatians about justification by faith alone in Christ. Please pray that B and N will not procrastinate turning to Christ.
In
January, I had the joy of leading J B (“Bougie”) to place his faith in Christ.
J has attended our church for a couple
of years and even went through our Afrikaans translation of THE EXCHANGE with
me in late 2019, but wasn’t ready to surrender to Christ. He had been listening to my messages through
the months of Lockdown last year and he had attended every service at our
home. There is a real joy on Bougie’s
countenance and he is attended our men’s mini Bible institute class here on
Thursday nights for the past month. Pray
for her growth and for his family’s spiritual needs. Sadly, we do not have enough transportation
to bring everyone to our services here at our house as most people do not have
vehicles. The C family, pictured in our
January prayer letter, have not been able to get transport to come to another
service since our Christmas Day. These folks are more reasons we need the Lord
to provide a venue for our church in E , D .
Since our January 2021 prayer letter, C , who is a registered
nurse has volunteered with the Western Cape Health Department to help with the
vaccine rollout, particularly in D , but anywhere in the City of Cape Town
metropolis. Will you pray
for the Lord to open this door of ministry for her if He so wills? As of
this weekend only 10,000 of the 80,000 doses of the J &J vaccine had been
administered and all for healthcare workers. There are another 500,000 doses to
be delivered in 4 weeks and a further 500,000 doses shortly thereafter, but
this is far short of the 40 million doses needed for herd immunity that is
targeted by sometime in 2022.
We greatly appreciative of the faithful support. We are very thankful for you. May God grant
you all good health and strength in 2021 according to His will. Yours in Christ
T & C
