The End Times as God Reveals Them Pt. 52 Earthquake, Tsunamis and Massive Hail!
The 7th Vial Finishes all Judgment.
Revelation 16:17-21 And the seventh angel poured out his vial into the air; and there came a great voice out of the temple of heaven, from the throne, saying, It is done. 18) And there were voices, and thunders, and lightnings; and there was a great earthquake, such as was not since men were upon the earth, so mighty an earthquake, and so great. 19) And the great city was divided into three parts, and the cities of the nations fell: and great Babylon came in remembrance before God, to give unto her the cup of the wine of the fierceness of his wrath. 20) And every island fled away, and the mountains were not found. 21) And there fell upon men a great hail out of heaven, every stone about the weight of a talent: and men blasphemed God because of the plague of the hail; for the plague thereof was exceeding great.
The seventh angel will pour out his vial and the voice of God in heaven will declare "It is done." This means that the wrath of God has been administered completely and that the great Day of the LORD's judgment has come.
Voices, thunders, Lightnings
This is the fourth time in Revelation that we find the words "voices, thunders, and lightnings" paired together (See Revelation 4:5; 8:5; 11:19). This signifies the soberness and gravity of what is going to happen.
A massive global earthquake
This scene in heaven is followed by a massive earthquake that will strike reconstructed Babylon and will leave it collapsed into three ruined sections. Revelation 17-18 will tell us much more about the fall of Babylon and the aftermath.
The earthquake will be so devastating that islands will be smashed by tsunamis and the mountains will be shaken and broken down. This is a global earthquake that will demolish the cities of the nations. There will probably be multiple tsunamis in every ocean in the world. The end result is going to show drastic changes to the earth's topography.
Massive hail stones
On top of widespread destruction and death a great plague of hailstones are going to fall on the earth. A talent weighs about 100 pounds. Once in a while we see storms produce hailstones the size of a softball and they do great damage and if you are hit by one it can be fatal.
The largest hail stone in the United States measured 5.7 inches diameter and weighed 1.67 pounds. That hailstorm caused more than $1 billion in damages that destroyed roofs and cars. In March 2000, a man was struck in the head by softball sized hail and was killed. You can go to Wikipedia to find an extensive list of hail damages by year, location and costs.
The hailstones prophesied by John in Revelation are going to be 60 times larger than the largest one in US history! This means that everything on earth is going to be destroyed. Buildings, vehicles, all plant life, animals and people.
All those who manage to stay alive will violently curse and blaspheme God because of the giant hail stones that will fall. This plague of hail will be far worse than the one that God sent upon Pharaoh and the Egyptians (Exodus 9:13-35).
God sent a fiery hail on Pharaoh
Exodus 9:23-35 And Moses stretched forth his rod toward heaven: and the LORD sent thunder and hail, and the fire ran along upon the ground; and the LORD rained hail upon the land of Egypt. 24) So there was hail, and fire mingled with the hail, very grievous, such as there was none like it in all the land of Egypt since it became a nation. 25) And the hail smote throughout all the land of Egypt all that was in the field, both man and beast; and the hail smote every herb of the field, and brake every tree of the field. 26) Only in the land of Goshen, where the children of Israel were, was there no hail. 27) And Pharaoh sent, and called for Moses and Aaron, and said unto them, I have sinned this time: the LORD is righteous, and I and my people are wicked. 28) Intreat the LORD (for it is enough) that there be no more mighty thunderings and hail; and I will let you go, and ye shall stay no longer. 29) And Moses said unto him, As soon as I am gone out of the city, I will spread abroad my hands unto the LORD; and the thunder shall cease, neither shall there be any more hail; that thou mayest know how that the earth is the LORD'S. 30) But as for thee and thy servants, I know that ye will not yet fear the LORD God. 31) And the flax and the barley was smitten: for the barley was in the ear, and the flax was bolled. 32) But the wheat and the rye were not smitten: for they were not grown up. 33) And Moses went out of the city from Pharaoh, and spread abroad his hands unto the LORD: and the thunders and hail ceased, and the rain was not poured upon the earth. 34) And when Pharaoh saw that the rain and the hail and the thunders were ceased, he sinned yet more, and hardened his heart, he and his servants. 35) And the heart of Pharaoh was hardened, neither would he let the children of Israel go; as the LORD had spoken by Moses.
God sent thunder, fire and hail in a great plague upon Egypt. Pharaoh is like the unrepentant blasphemers in Revelation. He saw the judgment and when he pleaded with Moses, the hail stopped. Then, instead of repenting and allowing the Hebrews to leave Egypt, he hardened his heart against God. This is exactly what we see going on in Revelation.
Jehovah used hail to destroy enemies of Israel.
Joshua 10:11 And it came to pass, as they fled from before Israel, and were in the going down to Bethhoron, that the LORD cast down great stones from heaven upon them unto Azekah, and they died: they were more which died with hailstones than they whom the children of Israel slew with the sword.
Joshua was going out to fight against the inhabitants of the promised land. God told him that He would help Joshua in the battle and in this case, He used hail to kill the enemies of God's people.
Isaiah foretold the use of hail against Antichrist.
Isaiah 30:30-31 And the LORD shall cause his glorious voice to be heard, and shall shew the lighting down of his arm, with the indignation of his anger, and with the flame of a devouring fire, with scattering, and tempest, and hailstones. 31) For through the voice of the LORD shall the Assyrian be beaten down, which smote with a rod.
Several times in Isaiah the Antichrist is called the Assyrian. Notice that fire, tempest and hailstones are going to be used to help beat him down.
Mark 4:37-41 And there arose a great storm of wind, and the waves beat into the ship, so that it was now full. 38) And he was in the hinder part of the ship, asleep on a pillow: and they awake him, and say unto him, Master, carest thou not that we perish? 39) And he arose, and rebuked the wind, and said unto the sea, Peace, be still. And the wind ceased, and there was a great calm. 40) And he said unto them, Why are ye so fearful? how is it that ye have no faith? 41 And they feared exceedingly, and said one to another, What manner of man is this, that even the wind and the sea obey him?
We know that on several occasions God used droughts to judge Israel. He has and can use the elements of weather to accomplish His judgments because He is Creator and governs all creation.
Mark's gospel recorded an instance of Jesus Christ the Creator (John 1:1-3) making the elements obey His voice. Jesus was passing over to the other side of the sea of Galilee in a boat. He was tired and slept but a violent storm arose. Remember that many of His disciples were seasoned sailors. Mark tells us that the storm and winds were so strong that the waves were flooding their boat to the point where it was ready to sink.
They frantically woke up Jesus and the Lord of glory rebuked the wind and the waves by commanding "Peace. Be still." Immediately, the wind stopped and the sea became glassy calm.
Notice what the disciples said to each other. "What manner of man is this that even the wind and the sea obey him?" Christ repeatedly demonstrated His power as Creator in healing people of all kinds of diseases, raising the dead back to life again, turning water into wine, multiplying bread and fish to feed thousands of people and casting out demons.
Thoughts to Ponder...
All the divine judgment foretold by the prophets is going to come to pass exactly the way that God said it will. We studied three sets of seven judgments that grow progressively in their intensity. This final wave will bring global earthquakes with a force never seen before. The massive tremors will unleash tsunamis in all oceans that will destroy all coastal areas on each continent. Violent storms will form and culminate with massive, 100 pound hailstones that obliterate everything that they strike.
God will demonstrate our Creator's control over the elements of nature in the future judgments.
God will judge sin because He is holy and righteous. God is right to do so because He sacrificed His Only Begotten Son, Jesus Christ on the cross to pay for our sins and take away the enmity between man and God.
God is love and is also ready to give the precious gift of salvation and grant eternal life to all who believe on His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ.
Omniscient God knows the beginning through the ending of every single person's life. He knows beforehand who will repent and who will not. You must hear the gospel because faith comes by hearing the Word of God. You must choose to obey the gospel of Jesus Christ. He will save you if you call upon Him in repentant faith.
Choose Jesus Christ, not the Devil. Choose eternal life in heaven, not eternal damnation in Hell. Choose salvation, not condemnation. Choose light not darkness.
