The Day the world changed for the worse....

I hope all of you are having a wonderful week. In this third post I would like to talk about the reason that conditions on the earth radically changed. Recall that the first 2 chapters in the book of Genesis show a caring, compassionate, creating God. The book of Isaiah tells us what kind of God created all things and gave life to all things. Isaiah 57:15  For thus saith the high and lofty One that inhabiteth eternity, whose name is Holy; I dwell in the high and holy place, with him also that is of a contrite and humble spirit, to revive the spirit of the humble, and to revive the heart of the contrite ones.  God lives in eternity. He is perfectly and utterly holy. He dwells in a place that is high and holy. Yet, this same God is full of compassion and cares about us. Returning to the scene in Genesis, please recall that God created everything and as each day of creation concluded, He said it was "good." After the 6th day when man was created, God said it was "very

Why was I created?

Welcome back. In my first post, I attempted to answer the question "How did everything get here?" without overloading you with too much detail. The short answer is found in the Bible where God tells us that He is responsible for creating all things. We learn that He initiated and sustains life and orderliness for all things, including the space, time and matter continuum where you and I live. Today, I would like to briefly look at what the Bible says about how we got here. I will refer again to the book of beginnings known as "Genesis." "Gen 1:26-27  And God said, Let us make man in our image, after our likeness: and let them have dominion over the fish of the sea, and over the fowl of the air, and over the cattle, and over all the earth, and over every creeping thing that creepeth upon the earth.  27  So God created man in his own image, in the image of God created he him; male and female created he them.  In this text, we read that God created man in Hi

In the beginning

The opening text of the Bible is profound. The first ten words are "In the beginning God created the heaven and the earth."  I would like to reflect a moment or two with you about these words. I am awed by the grandeur of these simple words. No one was there in the beginning except God and this same God, who created all things by merely speaking them into existence, communicated this truth for our benefit. God graciously pulled back the curtain of time so that people like you and I can understand the answers to some fundamental questions about life. Most people have an innate desire to understand "How did everything get here?" God tells us how everything got here in the first two chapters of the book of Genesis. There is a distinct orderliness in how the narrative of scripture describes creation. The phrase "and God said" is found 10 times in Genesis chapter 1. He literally spoke all things into existence. To me, this speaks volumes about who God i
